Office of the Superintendent

  • Dear Visalia Unified Community:

I am honored to have the opportunity to serve our community as Interim Superintendent of Visalia Unified School District.  Our staff is committed to working together to provide the children and adults of Visalia opportunities to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.  With over 30,000 students and a team of over 3,100 employees, we are here and ready to serve.

Over the past year and a half, our schools and community have been navigating new challenges with COVID-19 in our path.  It is our goal to work closely with our students, staff, and community to ensure that we provide students with a safe, caring, and supportive environment.  With emotions at an all-time high across our country, we know that building and nurturing relationships must be the foundation of our work.  We will focus on the development of a culture that fosters relationships and that supports student success in school both academically and socially.

To ensure that this work continues to move forward, we will support staff with professional development that provides the tools necessary to build nurturing schools and classroom environments with rigorous academic instruction that emphasizes critical thinking, communication, creativity, collaboration, and civic-mindedness.   We will work with our students, staff and community to ensure that students have voice and choice in their educational journey.

In addition to our academic programs, we have a wide variety of opportunities for student involvement which help students connect to school.  Please encourage your child to take part in extracurricular and cocurricular activities and programs, such as music, theater, robotics, athletics, agriculture, clubs, and other opportunities we have available.

Again, I am honored to have the opportunity to serve our community as Interim Superintendent of Visalia Unified School District.  It has been a blessing to see students back on campuses, sporting events taking place, bands performing, and agriculture students raising animals and crops.   Please join with me and our staff as we work together to keep our students safe and our schools open.   I look forward to meeting you during the 2021-2022 school year.
