Schoology & Zoom Help Docs:
Joining a Course Using an Access Code - A course does not appear for an individual unless that individual is registered into the course. The course developer may add individuals one-by-one, or individuals may join the course using an access code.
Using Zoom in Schoology - There are multiple ways to incorporate a Zoom session in a Schoology course for instructional purposes. This document presents one such method.
K-6 Student Chromebook Log-in - Students in the K-6 grade span may use their badge to log into their Chromebook for easier access to Schoology (Spanish Version)
Grade 7-12 Chromebook Log-in - Students in grade 7-12, and students who may have misplaced their badge, or hadn't received their badge, may still log in by typing their username and password.
Changing the Course Title - When courses move from Power School to Schoology, sometimes the title of the course is too technical for students and parents to readily identify. For this reason, teachers can modify the title of the course. The grade level team should be sure to select a "course name" that will be shared among all teachers who teach that course. Teachers should be able to select a "section name" that more readily identifies their class (Changing a Course/Section Name).
Using Grading Groups to designate AM and PM. Grading groups are intended for the purpose of grouping students for multiple purposes. These could include modifying assignments to groups of students. One need for some sites is to readily identify which students are in AM group, and which students are in the PM group.
TOSA Contacts - Our TOSA team has been teaming with site-level Expert Team members to lend support related to the implementation of instructional technology resources that are new this year. This contact reflects the TOSA assignments for K-6
Deleting Courses - At times there may be a need to remove a course that is listed in the Schoology list of courses. Courses that are deleted, may be retrieved if they were deleted in error (PDF).
Finding the Section Code in Schoology - At times it is necessary to visually match courses presented in Power School with those presented in Schoology. Comparing the section codes in both classes is one way to do that.
Matching Section IDs between Power School and Schoology - The section number can be used to identify which courses in Schoology are the appropriate courses. This information may be used to identify which courses are residual (needing to be deleted) due to historical schedule changes in Power School.
Linking Sections - Teachers often teach the same content to multiple sections. Linking sections in Schoology allows teachers to assign the same material across multiple sections.
Properly linking a Google Doc in Schoology - At times students cannot access a Google document if the document sharing preferences are not correct.
Splitting a Screen (in Spanish) - It's advantageous to split a screen during distance learning so that students can see both the teacher, and another program presented on another screen, at the same time.
Navigating Clever & Schoology (in Spanish) - A Spanish explanation on use of both Clever and Schoology
Setting up Grading Categories in Power School - With the use of Schoology, there is an option to pass grades back from Schoology to the Power Teacher Gradebook. The Power Teacher Gradebook first needs to be set up.
Sync Schoology Gradebook with Power Teacher Gradebook - The number of categories in the Schoology Gradebook need to match the number of categories created in the Power Teacher Gradebook in order for the two gradebooks to sync. A process is outlined to match the two categories so the systems can sync.
Shortening Assignment Title Automatically - The Power School Gradebook sets a limit of 50 characters in an assignment title. If the title in Schoology exceeds that, the assignment will not sync between the two grade books.
Removing the Membership View - It may be desirable to restrict students to view the entire roster of a class.
Texthelp PDF Reader and EquatIO - are two (currently free) platforms that, together, provides functionality similar to that provided by Kami.
Authenticating Zoom Users - Only individuals within VUSD should be participating in Zoom sessions within VUSD.
Students joining a Zoom - Sometimes students cannot joining a Zoom session because they cannot be authenticated. They may need to re-log into the Zoom system.
Seesaw in Schoology - Seesaw is one of several tools that are available, and even as a free version, might be a useful interactive tool for teachers to use.
Using Kami in Schoology - Our TOSA team has found a useful Kami overview video to help teachers understand the interaction between Kami & Schoology with respect to assignments. A recording of how a teacher can set up their Kami extension is also available. Students will need to go through a few steps the first time they use Kami as well, and those are outlined in another TOSA created recording on a student view, along with how students can submit their work.
