It's time to pull out those ugly Christmas sweaters and show them off. Students and staff are invited to wear a sweater for “Ugly Sweater Day” on Wednesday, December 19th. If you don't have one already, you have time to pick one up the GWHS “Ugly Sweater Day”.
Today at lunch our Link Crew Commissioners put together a fun little activity for some of the freshmen who have been seen portraying excellent T.R.A.I.L. Behaviors on campus. The GWHS Academy of First Responders had the opportunity to participate in a contagion epidemic drill at Kaweah Delta Hospital on Nov 15, 2018. We had 45 students from freshman, sophomore and junior classes act as patients in a drill conducted by KDH to prepare their staff for patient overflow situations. GWHS Girls Basketball is hosting a basketball tournament on December 12th to December 15th. The tournament is named after and will honor PFC Keith M. Williams, a former student of girls basketball Coach Russ Gostanian when he was a teacher at El Diamante High School. Keith lost his life at the age of 19 in Afghanistan fighting the Global War on Terror. Click on article for more information about how you can support this cause!
Attention all students and parents regarding TARDIES: If you have 4 or more tardies in one week you will lose off campus lunch privileges or be assigned lunch detention. To avoid these restrictions, please work to be ON TIME TO CLASS! Failure to attend assigned Tardy Detention will result in loss of privileges. Example: Rallies, and extracurricular such as attending athletic events.
The Golden West Trailblazer Marching Band and Color Guard had a fall marching season for the record books. On October 20th, The Band received first place in both the field show competition and parade competition at the Visalia Band Invitational. On November 10th the band received the sweepstakes award at the Lemoore, “Tiger Classic.”
GWHS Academy of Engineering and Agriculture Manufacturing and other VUSD high school students recently participated in Manufacturing Day. Student enjoyed various tours throughout Tulare County. Pictured here are GWHS students at American Inc. The day wrapped up with presentations by local community colleges and universities.
Visalia Ed Foundation is kicking off a new program we are calling “For the Love of Art” that will blend together an art show, dinner and silent auction featuring the work of Visalia Unified high school artists. The show and auction will include paintings, pottery, sculptures, leatherwork, wood work projects, jewelry, fashion designs, welding and more. Click on article for more information.
AP Tests are now on sale!! Please refer to the AP documents found on the GW Counseling Department website for information regarding the fees, dates, and deadlines for 2018/2019 AP exams. We also accept payments via credit card online at the GW webstore! March 8, 2019 is the absolute last day to pay for AP Exams!
Visalia Unified School District formed an Attendance Area Boundary Committee in May 2018 to bring recommendations to the Board of Trustees for the elementary school boundaries in the northwest quadrant of the District in anticipation of the newest elementary school opening in August 2019.
