Instructions for setting up Outlook or your phone after your email account has been upgraded to Office 365
If you use Microsoft Outlook on a computer, after your account is upgraded you’ll be prompted for a username and password the first time you open Outlook (note that on some versions of Outlook, the username/password prompt may come up behind the Outlook window initially, so watch out for that.) Use your full @vusd.org email address for the username and your regular password. Even if it tries to fill in your username for you (like ‘abrown’ or ‘VUSD\abrown’), take all that out and just enter your entire @vusd.org email address (like email@example.com).
After you enter your email address and password, Outlook will pop up a message that says, “The Microsoft Exchange administrator has made a change that requires you quit and restart Outlook.” At that point, click “ok”, close/re-open Outlook and everything should be good to go. If you are prompted again for a username and password, be sure to use your entire email address for the username.
For web email access, instead of going to mail.vusd.org, you’ll go to https://outlook.office365.com or click on “Email – Staff Login (for Office 365 users)” from the VUSD homepage. It’s right under the original “Email – Staff Login” link.
If you have your VUSD email set up on your phone, you’ll need to completely remove the current VUSD email account and add it back using your @vusd.org email address and password. All iPhones and some Android phones will automatically find the new settings for you. Just add a new email account, choose “Microsoft Exchange” or “Exchange” for the type, put in your email address and password, and you’ll be good to go. If you’re one of the lucky ones that has an Android device that doesn’t automatically find the right settings for you, here are the settings you’ll need to use:
Username: your full @vusd.org email address (not just your username or vusd\username.)
Password: your current email password.
Mail server: outlook.office365.com
Domain: leave blank or use your email address if leaving it blank gives you an error.
You also have the option of removing the VUSD email account completely from your phone and then switching to the Microsoft Outlook app. Download it by searching for "Microsoft Outlook" on the App Store (iPhones) or Play Store (Android phones). It's free. The nice thing about the Microsoft Outlook App is that it works the same way on every phone regardless of it being an iPhone or Android. The setup is simple. Download it, enter your full email address and password, hit next a few times, and you're good. That's it. No more server settings to deal with.

Here are some specific instructions for removing and re-adding the account on iPhones (Android instructions coming soon...):
To remove account from phone:
1. Tap "Settings"
2. Then scroll to the “Passwords & Accounts” heading…
3. You will look for an existing account most likely named “Exchange” or “VUSD”…
4. Select the account then select the “Delete Account” option…
Adding account back to phone:
5. Repeat steps 1 and 2 above, then the select the “Add Account” option under accounts.
6. Select the “Exchange” account option…
7. Enter your entire e-mail address [ex: firstname.lastname@example.org] then select next…
8. Select “Sign In”…
9. Select “Work or school account”…
10. Enter your vusd.org password…
11. Choose which items you want to sync with your account (Mail, Contact, Calendars etc…) then click “Save”.
