Second Semester - Health

  • Course Description:

    Health is a required course for high school graduation.  This course provides a skills-based curriculum that addresses federal and state mandates for instruction, as well as the state framework for health education in California.  The course of study focuses on personal health and wellness, with an emphasis on the development of responsible decision-making skills in relationship to a healthy lifestyle.  Course content includes life skills focused on healthy choices, in the areas of nutrition, fitness, stress management and social/emotional health, substance use and abuse, growth and development, and reproductive health.  The course also explores environmental factors influencing health and healthy lifestyle choices, as well as societal influences and media pressures.
