Walta S. Gamoian

Walta Gamoian was born and raised in Selma, California.  She attended CSU, Fresno, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in biology.  She also completed her single subject teaching credential at Fresno State and taught biology and yearbook at Selma High School for two years.  She then accepted a teaching position at Golden West High School in Visalia and taught there for the next 32 years.  During that time, she taught biology, chemistry, AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), and Link Crew.  She also served on the leadership team for multiple WASC accreditation studies. 

Ms. Gamoian was a featured instructor in an ASCD national video series on teaching strategies and has always sought opportunities for professional development in order to improve her classroom teaching to meet the needs of all students.  She continues to mentor students in VUSD and strives to build positive school cultures through academic excellence, student activities, and athletic endeavors.  Ms. Gamoian had a strong desire to continue working with youth upon her retirement from Visalia Unified and is proud to serve on the VUSD School Board, Trustee Area 1.
