Over $1.46M Value Added by PTAs to VUSD’s Student Achievement VISALIA, CA – Visalia Unified School District (VUSD) is proud to announce that its
Parent Teacher Associations (PTAs) collectively contributed over $1.46 million in value to VUSD. The impact of Parent Teacher Associations extends far beyond monetary value. PTAs support our communities by keeping students, teachers, and administrators connected to one another in a variety of ways.

During the annual Presidents and Principals luncheon on February 22, 2024, the Visalia Council of PTAs presented a faux check with the dollar figure. The $1.46M was calculated by combining volunteer hours, their monetary value, and the gross income for all VUSD PTAs.

The current President of the Visalia Council of PTAs, Alexi Del Bianco, added, “PTA is much more than fundraising, it is about providing opportunities for families to connect with their school and advocate for their student.” From fundraising and school-related events, to advocating for policy change, PTA’s provide both tangible and intangible work that positively affect our students’ success. PTAs provide parents with opportunities to be engaged with their student’s academics, increasing student participation and achievement in school.

“I am grateful for the impactful work that our PTAs do everyday. We will continue to utilize our PTAs to engage with our communities in the years to come,” added Superintendent Shrum.

Community engagement is one of three themes in VUSD’s strategic plan, underscoring the importance of a collaborative approach to student success.
