Our Mission
The Mission of Visalia Unified School District Budget Department is to support Students, Staff, School Board, and the Community by providing accurate, responsive, and customer-focused budgeting and administrative services that advance the mission of Business Services and Visalia Unified School District.
The Budget Department provides planning and management of the District's financial resources through:
- Timely processing of changes to revenues and expenditures
- Continuous monitoring of internal and external factors affecting the District’s budget
- Open public discussion of the District’s budget and assumptions
- Excellent management of the District's financial resources
Our Services
Budget staff are primarily responsible for:
- Assisting departments with the development of their annual budgets
- Revising the budget based on changes in the educational needs of the sites and programs
- Monitoring revenues and expenditures to compare actual amounts with estimates
- Making recommendations and changes based on actual revenues and expenditures
- Monitoring changes in the State budget process
- Providing Interim Financial Reports to the Board and oversight agencies
- Ensuring program and site budgets stay within their allocation

The Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) presented Visalia Unified School District with the Pathway to The Meritorious Budget Award for our 2023-2024 Budget Presentation, and our 2024-2025 Budget Presentation. Our district also received the prestigious Meritorious Budget Award for our 2025-2026 Meritorious Budget Submission.
