VUSD Transportation Field Trip Information

Visalia Unified School District's Transportation Department would be happy to facilitate your next trip. VUSD Transportation offers safe, reliable, and timely service for all of your field trip needs. Including field trips, trips for sporting events, trips for band related events, all other school related activities, church groups, and other organizations.

Requesting A Trip With VUSD Transportation

In order to request a trip with VUSD Transportation, please utilize the link below. Our office utilizes a Google form to ensure that submitted requests are received. Please be advised, VUSD Transportation asks that you:

Utilize the Trip Request Google Form (link below) to request trips. Please do not call staff directly or submit an email requesting a trip.
Submit trip requests at least 2 weeks in advance of the date of your planned trip. VUSD Transportation cannot guarantee that trip requests submitted within 2 weeks of the departure date will be fulfilled.
Do not submit a request that falls on a VUSD Transportation blackout date. Blackout dates are clearly listed twice on the Trip Request Google Form. Once after the field titled "email" and again in the field titled "Date The Trip Is Requested". If you submit a form requesting a trip on a blackout date, it will be denied.

VUSD Transportation Field Trip Rates

Rate for VUSD Intra-District Request	Rate for Requests Outside of District
Hourly Rate: $80 per hour	Hourly Rate: $92 per hour
Cost Per Mile: $2.46	Cost Per Mile: $2.82
Trip Cost Beginning At $301.50	Trip Cost Beginning At $346.50
All facilitated field trip requests will be billed a minimum of 3 hours plus 25 miles. For example, if you request a trip that is only 2 hours in duration, you will be billed for 3 hours at the hourly rate plus 25 miles at the cost per mile rate. This equates to a minimum charge of $301.50 for intra-district field trip requests and &346.50 for all others outside of the district.

Charter Services & Cost

VUSD Transportation can arrange a charter service to accommodate your field trip request if you request a charter service. VUSD may also assign you a charter service depending on staff availability. How to request a school related trip?

In order to request a trip, you must utilize the Trip Request Google Form. A link to the form is listed below. Please note all backout dates and ensure that your trip request does not have dates that conflict with listed blackout dates. If your trip request conflicts with listed blackout dates, it will automatically be denied. Please ensure that you fill out the form completely before submitting it.

How soon should I request my trip?

Once you are sure of your trip dates, feel free to submit your request. The sooner we know about your plans, the sooner we can make the appropriate arrangements to facilitate your trip. Please ensure that you submit your trip at least 2 weeks before the requested departure date to ensure that our office has time to make the appropriate arrangements for your trip. The later your trip is requested, the greater the chance that our drivers will be unavailable to accommodate your request. Then the request will be chartered out which is more costly than the service our office provides, or it may be denied if requested within 2 weeks and all drivers and charters are already booked.

What happens if I request a trip within 2 weeks of my trip date?

How do I cancel a submitted trip request?

In order to cancel a submitted trip request, please submit the cancellation via email to the inbox listed below. Please notify us of cancellation as soon as possible so that our office can notify the appropriate staff. Please be advised, if your trip is chartered out, you can still be charged for service depending on how close the cancellation is to the departure date.
