Speech Language Pathologist
Visalia Unified School District (VUSD) has an immediate vacancy for a Speech Language Pathologist (Special Education). This position assesses and provides remediation therapy to students with disorders of language, speech and hearing.
Salary: $80,878-$128,042

- $1,500 per year towards California State Licensure.

Team Relationship
Is directly responsible to the Special Education Director, and is under the immediate direction of the site administrator while performing services on the school site.
Essential Job Functions
- Screens referrals of students with speech, language and hearing handicaps.
- Performs diagnostic work-up on student for their particular handicap and needs.
- Facilitates Individual Educational Plan (IEP) committee meeting.
- Individualizes direct or indirect therapy for student's particular needs.
- Confers with parents, teachers and other specialists with regard to student's handicaps.
- Performs basic attendance and record keeping services as required.
- Acts as consultant on school assessment team and educational assessment service.
- Conducts in-service training for teachers or other pertinent persons.
- Attends conferences and professional meetings, classes and workshops related to the LSH field in order to promote and maintain professional growth.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Certifications:
- Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential or be eligible for an internship/waiver.
- Clinical:
- Clinical or Rehabilitative Services Credential in Language, Speech, and Hearing with Special Class Authorization.
- General:
- Special Secondary Credential- Correction of Speech Defects
- Exceptional Children Credential- Speech Correction Lip Reading
- Standard:
- Teaching Credential with Minor- Speech and Hearing Handicapped.
- Restricted Special Education Credential- Speech and Hearing Therapy.
- Limited Specialized Preparation Credential- Speech and Hearing Handicapped.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
- Must possess knowledge of methods and strategies used to instruct bilingual/culturally diverse students.
- Must be familiar with California State Standards in the subject area in which you hold your credential.
- Bilingual Spanish preferred.
- Ability to work with bilingual/culturally diverse students.
- Training in communication severity scales desired.
