Visalia Residency Inspiring Supporting Educators (RISE)
Teacher residency programs are a pathway option available to future educators who have completed their bachelor’s degree and are now looking at obtaining their teaching credential.
Fresno Pacific University® (FPU) and Visalia Unified School District (VUSD) have partnered together offer one year residency program. Residents receive financial support for student teaching, or receive financial support while working alongside an experienced mentor teacher.
Our commitment is to enroll and prepare a diverse cohort of teacher candidates to serve students and families in the community. Visalia RISE strives to develop effective and passionate teachers that create equitable learning experiences for students.

Multiple Subject or Single Subject Teacher Credential
Highlights:
- 12-month program starting in summer
- Year-long residency placement with mentor teacher in Visalia Unified
- Integration of coursework and classroom experience
- District professional development opportunities
- $35,000 stipend
- Financial aid and grants may be available
- Priority employment consideration with Visalia Unified upon successful completion of the program
- Master of Arts in Teaching option available, post-credential
