The Institutional Review Board (IRB) is an institutional committee created to protect the rights and welfare of human research subjects.

The committee is responsible for reviewing research designs (protocols) involving human subjects. The IRB is a committee that performs ethical review of proposed research involving human subjects. Interested research candidates should complete the form below to request review of their research proposal before conducting research. 

The VUSD Institutional Review Board (IRB) Committee reviews these requests every two weeks, as needed. The review process shall determine:

• Potential risks to the dignity, rights and welfare of the participants.
• That the proposed safeguards against the risks are adequate.
