THE STUDENT TRANSFER PORTAL IS OPEN NOW AND WILL CLOSE ON MARCH 1, 2026 AT 11:59PM
Transfers Dead Period
This year the Transfer Dead Period will begin immediately following the transfer deadline of April 11th, 2025, and will remain in effect until December 1st, 2025, or a date as determined by the school district. Once the Dead Period has concluded, VUSD will resume accepting transfer requests. During this period, no transfer requests of any kind are permitted. The Transfer Dead Period allows schools and teachers ample time to prepare for the upcoming school year. Additionally, the student transfer request links on the VUSD website will be inaccessible. Thank you for your understanding. If you have any questions or need further information, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Transfer Unit at 559-730-7566.
Important Announcements
For the 26/27 school year, some schools may be closed to transfers due to enrollment capacity. Once those schools have been determined, they will be listed under this section. If you attempt to apply for a closed school, the online system will redirect you to another school with available space. Also, if a school is open to transfer requests, grade level capacity may vary.

New Transfers
Students who currently reside within the VUSD boundaries may apply for a transfer in any VUSD school that will be granted only if the requested school has space available for additional students.
Transfers are only allowed for the start of the beginning of each school year. There are no transfers permitted during the school year.
Students wanting to transfer from another district to VUSD, need to apply for an interdistrict agreement from their district of residence first. If approved, the district of residence will then send the interdistrict agreement to VUSD. Renewals for inter district transfers must reapply with the district of residence on an annual basis.
VUSD offers a specific period of time to allow for parents to submit a transfer request for the following school year.
