K-2 Reading Difficulties Risk Screener

As part of Visalia Forward 2030’s literacy plan and beginning with the 2025-2026 school year, Visalia Unified School District is screening all kindergarten, first grade, and second grade students for reading difficulties. Screening provides important information on how students are acquiring language and equips K - 2 teachers with the right information to respond with effective, whole group and small group instruction. Students’ needs change as they learn, and in order to stay true to our mission of Every Student Learning Every Day, we are continuously monitoring students’ progress in reading.
