Career Technical Education

VUSD CTE has two dedicated counselors who support students in our Pathway and Academy programs. They help students with academic planning, career exploration, and social-emotional support ensuring each student receives the guidance they need to succeed in school and prepare for life after graduation.

Visalia employs School Counselors at the pre-K through high school level. Currently, VUSD has 58 counselors across our school sites. 

Visalia Unified has proudly partnered with American School Association (ASCA) to develop a data driven Comprehensive Counseling Department. Through the ASCA model, VUSD Counselors will offer counseling programs that data driven, included resources based on what students need for postsecondary readiness and success, and are delivered to all students systematically. 

School Counselors help all students in these three domains:

• Academic- focuses on strategies and activities to support the advancement of each individual student's ability to achieve academic success
• Career- focuses on the skills, attitudes, and knowledge students need for a student to successful transition from school to postsecondary education and/or the world of work.
• Social/Emotional- focuses on supporting students managing emotions and learning to apply interpersonal skills.
