    HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCY PROGRAMS

        GED

The GED® is aligned with the Common Core State Standards.  It is more rigorous and is designed to ensure career and college-readiness.  You can enroll in GED® preparation classes at the Visalia Adult School.

"GED® is a registered trademark of the American Council on Education.  Used under license."

        HiSET

In the United States and its territories, adults who left high school before graduation have another way to secure a high school equivalency credential.

What does that mean? It means that, through testing, you can demonstrate you have the same skills and knowledge as a high school graduate. And doing so can help you create a whole new future.

Once you pass the test, your state or jurisdiction will issue you a high school equivalency certificate or high school equivalency diploma.

    ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE

English as a Second Language (ESL) classes are designed for the limited English proficient student to learn to speak, read, and write the English language.  Students will also learn math skills and knowledge of civics so they may pursue a higher education or vocational training.

     CITIZENSHIP

Designed for foreign-born persons who wish to become US citizens, this course covers the principles of American history and government. We also walk our students through the citizenship process and help them take the first steps toward applying.
