Mrs. Judy Yoder
As a Fine Arts teacher my preferred media is photography, mixed media, watercolor and charcoal drawing. As a person, I care for students with a variety of learning differences. I assist the student with added instructional time to strengthen their area of need, I listen, nurture, build self-confidence and most importantly, teaching is to inspire students. "Every child is an artist" says Pablo Picasso.
My concentration in the fine arts lies in black and white photography (cultural), landscape (natural), and architecture (man-made). The breadth of my portfolio includes applied arts of building with natural materials, drawing with charcoal, and painting abstracts.
I am a family oriented person who has been married 42 years to my high school sweetheart. We have two grown children and an extended family (World Link: FLEX/YES) of hosting foreign exchange students. We have gained an intrinsic value through our cultural diversity which has taught us that our differences are not wrong or right just different. I have made a commitment to my family and now, I have made a commitment to be a Trojan at Divisadero Middle School. My commitment is to each person that walks not just through my door but to every individual on campus.
As an educator, I embrace challenges to teach reading articles about the artist, artwork and/or career, planning, problem solving, stimulating creativity and maintaining a positive attitude. Each student brings a new set of challenges, but the reward is the look of pride in their eyes, that illuminates their desire and capacity to learn through individualized praise. My recognition of their achievement is sincere, consistent, and true.
