Mr. Baker (The Science Maker)

Mr. Baker has been guiding our learners in Science since 2014. He brings to our children the vast repertoire of exciting, materials-intensive science activities that he has collected throughout his career working at SCICON for ten years, and as an independent science educator via his company, Science-Dipity, since 2013.

Tim has loved science since his parents amazingly let him just dig in the yard as a kindergartner, collect bees as a six-year old, and find fossils at age seven. He has continued with this passion as an Anthropology major at the California State University at Bakersfield.

Tim has loved not only science and the natural world, but also being able to work with children, guiding them through these terrific science experiences. He gets to live vicariously through his students, forever being able to relive the joy he was blessed to have as a little kid, being given the permission to explore our wonderful world.

Mrs. Ramirez

Lynette Ramirez is a third-generation farmer’s daughter who has lots of roots in the valley. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics Education and Single Subject Credential from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.  She then went on to obtain her Multiple Subject Credential in order to teach elementary children, which had become a growing passion. She has been teaching for a total of 16 years.  Her past experiences include teaching 3rd grade at a private school in Strathmore, High School Home Economics in Woodlake, and a 5th grade bilingual class in Cutler.  Once she started her own family, she took a 10-year break from teaching to give them her full instruction.  When her children were all of school age, she reentered the teaching profession here at CHSA.  She started teaching part time at CHSA in 2011. Working part-time at CHSA has provided the perfect balance in fulfilling her love for teaching and caring for her busy family. Her experiences as a mother of three give her a unique understanding of the demands that home school families face on a daily basis.  When she can find a free moment, she enjoys activities such as crocheting, gardening, and dates with her husband.
