Visalia Technical Early College & College of Sequoias

Visalia Technical Early College and College of Sequoias have had a partnership since VTEC opened in 2010.  Originally the College of Sequoias Ag Farm, the current VTEC site was shared by COS and VTEC for 3 years before COS moved to the NEW Tulare Campus.  Once COS moved to Tulare, VUSD bought the current 35 acres VTEC site from COS.  Since VTEC is an "EARLY COLLEGE", students are encouraged to take COS classes when they are ready.  This may be their freshman year or their senior year depending on their academic ability and maturity.  Some students will utilize COS to complete post-secondary requirements, secodnary/high school requirements or explore potential careers pathways.  All are great uses of the early college experience and we encourage students in all three areas.

In 2019, VTEC, in partnership with COS, applied for and received a K12 Smarter Workforce Program Grant through the California Community College Chancellor Office.  This funding is designed to help strengthen the Early College Agricultural Pathways between VTEC and COS.  Part of the grant is providing a full-time Early College Student Success Liaison.  This individual is a COS employee, assigned to VTEC to support and assist VTEC students with the early college experience.  VTEC is one of the only schools in Tulare County to be able to offer this type of service to its students.  The VTEC Early College Student Success Liaison is Brooke Hulsey.  Mrs. Hulsey has worked with COS for a number of years and has a wealth of experience supporting college students and in counseling college students into universities and careers.  VTEC is excited to have Mrs. Hulsey on staff supporting our students.
