Visalia Unified School District Indoor Sports Athlete COVID-19 Testing Middle & High School
We now have new updated guidance for our local health department. They are allowing basketball players to play with masks being optional but they are requiring 2 Covid tests per week. Wrestlers have to test 2 times a week to practice/compete indoors.
I’ve received some additional information from COVID Clinic that will help ensure students are prepared to test when they arrive.
- Students under 18à parents/guardians need to register and then ADD the student as a dependent, registration & consent only needs to happen once.
- Parent must place an “order” every time the student needs to be tested. So for athlete testing, this will be weekly. The order # is what COVID Clinic uses as their test/patient identifier. Each order # can only be used once. Parents should place the order and then give that number to their student, students need it to check-in & test with COVID Clinic.
COVID Clinic will be open on Mondays at all 4 locations during our breaks for student athlete testing. If teams are practicing over break, students must get tested on those Mondays. Hours will be the same, 9:30a-6pm.
As of right now, I have the schedule below for students to test at El D.
Testing at El D Schedule:
Wrestling: Monday’s and Friday’s 3:30-6:30
Girls BBall: Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30-6:30
Boys BBall: Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30-6:30
From my understanding, the District is working on setting up testing sites here on campus for our athletes. I haven’t heard any follow up on it yet, so as soon as I have more information I will let you all know.
