Dear Valley Oak Middle School Parents and Students,                                                                       August 1, 2020

We are excited to welcome you to our unique return to Valley Oak Middle School on Thursday, August 13th and we are committed to working closely with you to maintain a safe and rigorous learning experience. At this time all of VUSD will be learning from home starting August 13th. All students will begin school daily at 8:00 a.m. with their Valley Oak homeroom teacher. All classes will run online via Zoom. Those families who selected “Hybrid” will begin the day with a VOMS homeroom and then work directly with the online school.

The AM Cohort’s first period will start at 8:15 a.m. and the PM Cohort first period will begin at 12:25 p.m. You be able to view your student’s schedule starting August 10th by logging into PowerSchool https://powerschool.vusd.org/public

You child will be in frequent communication with their teachers via their VUSD email address.

Chromebooks for all students (hybrid and full distance) will be distributed as follows:
     8th Graders on Monday, August 10th 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.; 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
     7th Graders on Tuesday, August 11th 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.; 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
     Make-Up Wednesday, August 12th 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

If you have textbooks or library books from last year, please bring them to turn them in. Students will be expected to attend courses via Zoom. In order for your student to participate, we will need you to return the Digital Learning Platform Acknowledgement and Consent Form the day your student receives his or her Chromebook. See attachments, sign, and return them when you pick up the chromebook for your child.

Students will receive textbooks and other class resources on Tuesday, August 18th and Wednesday, August 19th during a separate drive-through event. We will send out an auto call with more information at a later date.

If you have questions about your student’s class schedule, please contact Assistant Principal Mrs. Contreras at acontreras02@vusd.org.

We are all in this together Bronco Nation! And we will come out of this together!
