    Congratulations to the boys varsity tennis team who remained undefeated on the season at 12-0 with 8-1 victory over a very good Lemoore team.  Also, congratulations to the JV team who defeated Lemoore 4-1.  Please come out today and support our boys as they take on Redwood for 1st place in the WYL and look to remain undefeated on the season and in the WYL. Matches start at 4:00pm.

     

    Congratulations to the boys and girls track teams for defeating both Lemoore and Hanford in their first WYL competition of the season.  Outstanding performers were Ronnie Ruud in the sprints, Ryan Quintana in the jumps, Robert Bufanda in the hurdles and Miguel Nuno in the discus.  For the girls, Tiana Gibbs and Samantha Martin in the sprints, Kaylea Santos in the throws and Sky Garcia in the distance races.

    Congratulations to the varsity baseball team who defeated Sunnyside 17-2 on Tuesday.  Also, congratulations to the JV baseball team who defeated Sunnyside 17-3 on Wednesday.  Leading the JV team was winning pitcher Eddie Venegas with 5 strikeouts and 2 singles at the plate, and Taylor Maxey with a triple, 3 RBIs and 2 stolen bases.

    Team picture dates:  Softball, today, March 21; Baseball, Monday, March 25; Boys and Girls Swimming, Tuesday, March 26; Boys Golf, Tuesday, March 26; and Boys Tennis, Wednesday, March 27.  Please have picture forms ready and completed with payment.

    Attention all wrestlers, there will be a mandatory meeting at lunch tomorrow in room K-12.  Please plan on attending.  Also, the Wrestling awards banquet will be on Friday, March 29 from 6-8pm in the cafeteria.

    Anyone interested in cheer for the 2019-2020 season, there is a mandatory parent meeting tomorrow night, March 22nd at 6:00pm in room S-12. Cheer Clinics are April 9,10,11 from 4-7pm and Cheer Tryouts are April 12 at 4:00pm.

    The Mt. Whitney Track & Field team will be hosting the 4th Annual Jared Verbeek Invitational on Friday, March 29 at 4:00pm here at Mt. Whitney.   Jared was a 2007 track and cross country student-athlete who was killed in action in 2011, a month before his tour was over.  The Vietnam Veteran’s Honor Guard will be presenting the colors on our new flag pole donated by the Mt. Whitney Cross Country program.  The Verbeek family and branches of all military will be honored and flags represented.  There really is no track meet like this, please come out and show your support for our student-athletes, the Verbeek family, and the military.  Hope to see everyone there.

    Reminder there is a freshman baseball game vs. Tulare Western today, March 21 at 4:15 at home.

    Teachers, please excuse the swim team today at 2:30 for home meet vs. Hanford, the boys tennis team at 2:45 for home match vs. Redwood, and the Frosh baseball team at 3:00 for home game vs. Tulare Western.  For Friday, March 22, please excuse the track team at 12:45, the bus will leave for Exeter at 1:00, the JV/V baseball teams at 2:15, the bus will leave for Sierra Pacific at 2:30, and the softball team at 3:00 for home game vs. Golden West.  Thank you and good luck to all our student-athletes.
