Measure A is a General Obligation bond that was on the November 2018 ballot asking Visalians to support a property tax so Visalia Unified School District can improve schools, enhance safety and provide upgraded technology. Measure A passed with more than 60% of the vote.
At the January 29, 2019, Board meeting, the Board of Education and Visalia Unified School District recognized Mr. Ray Miller as an outstanding partner in education. The District is very fortunate to have a number of community partners whose efforts have a positive impact on our students and our schools. Mr. Ray Miller is an example of an individual who has generously contributed his time, support, and services to positively benefit our students.
At the Tuesday, January 15, Board meeting, the VUSD Board of Education recognized VUSD students and staff for a variety of achievements. The primary focus of Board recognition is to acknowledge accomplishments of District students, staff, and departments; and on January 15, the Board had the pleasure of recognizing the following VUSD students and staff:
Visalia Unified School District formed an Attendance Area Boundary Committee in May 2018 to bring recommendations to the Board of Trustees for the elementary school boundaries in the northwest quadrant of the District in anticipation of the newest elementary school opening in August 2019.
The Visalia Unified School District Board of Trustees held its Annual Organizational Meeting on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. The oath of office was given to new and returning Board members, Board officers were elected for 2019, and 2018 Board officers were honored and thanked for their service and leadership.
Visalia is proud of its quality K-12 education, with a foundation of 38 traditional elementary, middle and high school campuses. Visalia Unified School District stays abreast of technological changes and secures funding necessary to build new campuses to keep up with Visalia’s strong population growth.
