Traffic notice: Please remember to enter the visitor's parking lot with patience and precaution and also  follow all the traffic signs and staff directives.  Our students safety is of utmost importance to the Four Creeks staff.  Thank you in advance for following the posted traffic signs and staff directives.

DISMISAL Parking Lot: We need your continued support with the visitor's parking lot protocols at  arrival and dismissal times:

  1. Be patient when entering the parking lot and follow staff directions
  2.  Always turn right going in and right going out and do not hold up traffic by turning left when leaving
  3. Use the crosswalk and do not jaywalk
  4. Use the sidewalk instead of walking in front of cars that are entering and leaving
  5. Stay in your vehicle when using the vehicle only lane
  6. If parking is not available, park outside campus

Flag pole is only for parents that are walking with their child.  Parents must park in a parking stall or off campus.

Vehicle only is for our parents that are in their vehicle and using the outer lane.

Inner lane is only for cars leaving and not picking up.

If you are having someone pick up your child, please review the protocols posted on our website. It is important they understand and follow these rules too.

To ensure the safety of our students, we ask that you notify the classroom teacher by email or  sending a note  on the first day of school on how your child will be going home.  Especially for students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade.

Kindergartners have 2 options: utilizing school transportation or picked up by their classroom for rooms 200 and 201.  For rooms 100 and 101 pick up is off  of Burke Street by the Kindergarten gate.

1st-3rd grade students have 3 options    utilizing school transportation, or picked up by the flagpole or picked up at the vehicle zone area

Kindergarten and 1st grade  @ 2:00

2nd grade @ 2:04

3rd grade @ 2:08

If we do not receive an email or note, your child will be waiting for you by the flagpole.

 IMPORTANT POSTS FROM LAST YEAR

12/12 Is there an age limit for children on social media?

Most social media services and apps require users to be 13 years old to join.  Why 13? This is usually to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection  Act of 1998 a US law preventing the collection and storage of personal information from a child under the age of 13.

Four Creeks School social media policy recommends that parents not allow students to the accounts listed on our Student-Parent Handbook to lessen the negative issues associated with them. We also have information  on our school website.  It is also recommend that all electronic use is closely monitored by parents. However, if a parent gives consent, they assume the responsibility of any online actions taken by their student.

After School Hours Social Media:

Students who are under the age of 13 and who have social media issues related to harassment will be referred to parents.  Parent will be encourage to consult the police department.  While we will handle issues arising on campus that we are made aware of, we ask that parents help by closely monitoring social media use. Snap chat seems to be the most comely used app and is problematic because messages disappear quickly.  We suggest you install mirroring applications so you see what your child is doing and any threats they see. PARENTAL CONTROL TOOLS Cell phone plan carriers – Typically mobile carriers (A T&T, Sprint, Verizon, etc.) provide parental control options that can limit the amount of time spent on social media, what platforms teens can access, and what hours they can be online. We appreciate your help and support with this matter.

Suspendable and Expellabel Actions: Please remind your child to demonstrate PAWS at all times at school and in our community: Have  a  Positive Attitude, demonstrate Academic Focus, make Wise Choices and Show Respect. If they don't follow PAWS they may be suspended.  Some suspendable  offenses are: the willful use of  force or violence, cause damage to school property , disrupt school activity, and  the of use profanity.  These  are some offenses that lead to suspension. See the complete list. We appreciate your support with this matter.

Dresscode:  Please remind your child that dress code stipulates that knit caps may be worn in cold weather.  Hats are to be removed inside buildings.  Hooded sweatshirts may also be worn outside during the cold weather, but all hoods will be removed from the top of the head inside all buildings.  This language can be found in the Four Creeks Student-Parent Handbook on page 37 item number 11.  Thank you for your support with this matter.

Phones: Cell phones are not to be used between the time students arrive and they leave campus.  When students are at school, we want them focused on learning. Students have access to a phone at school if they need to call home.  Also, the school is not responsible for stolen and or damaged cell phones and/or other tech devices.

If cell phones are out:

1.       Staff takes the phone and gives it to the student at the end of the day.
2.       If it happens again, parents must pick up the phone at the end of the day from office staff.

Contact information:

Please make sure that the office staff has your current contact information. If it's a change of address, please provide the office staff with proper documentation to provide proof of address. Also, always provide us with your current phone number.  This information is imperative when emergency situations arise.  Thank you for providing your current information.

Establish a routine:
* If on vacation, start the early to bed routine at least 5 days before school starts.
• When school starts, make sure children have homework done, classroom materials together, and clothes laid out the night before school. Make sure they get enough sleep so that they are well-rested in the morning. Let children know that good attendance is important:
• Show them that you are interested in their school activities and want them to do well in school. Communicate positively with school staff:
• Let them know in advance if your child is going to be absent or if you have concerns about your child’s attendance or school performance.

Observe the school schedule:
• Plan family vacations during school recesses and schedule children’s doctor appointments after school hours whenever possible.

Praise your child when he or she exhibits good performance.
•       Celebrate with a special after-school treats, snacks or outings to play at the park.
•       Drop off special notes or cards for special delivery at school letting them know you are proud of them.
•       Surprise them by taking them out for lunch or by  bringing them their favorite lunch.

We appreciate your continued support with helping your child succeed.

Video games are a high interest activity for many children at Four Creeks. We would like to caution you to provide intentional supervision of your child’s gaming activity, and set limits on the amount of time your child is able to play video games each day. Violent video games are particularly concerning, and affect how children interact with one another. High use of video games are associated with psychological and behavioral problems, interfering with the child’s success at school and in the community. Please be aware of these concerns and thank you for your continued support. Consider removing (not allowing) consoles and controllers during evening hours and before school hours.

School offers exceptional learning opportunities every day.
Help your child be at school all day, every day!

12/11 Please remind your child/children  to go straight home after school.    We expect Four Creeks students to always demonstrate PAWS. Our students are a reflection of our school community wherever they are.  Thank you for your support with this matter.

We are an AVID School: ADVANCEMENT VIA INDIVIDUAL DETERMINATION.

AVID students are taught the  strategies they need to overcome obstacles and achieve success. They graduate and attend college at higher rates, but more importantly, they can think critically, collaborate, and set high expectations to confidently conquer the challenges that await them. Please look at the AVID power point that is located on our website.  AVID prides on school, student and parent communication.  Please make sure to sign your student's agenda/planner.  Your signature is required for your child to obtain credit.  Thank you for your partnership.

Exiting Campus in the morining:

All Visalia schools are closed campuses.  If you need to speak with your child's teacher, please make arrangements with the front office or contact the teacher via email.  The  emails are in our Student Parent Handbook and also  posted on our website.   Thank you for your support in maintaining campus safety.

BUS: If your child rides the bus, please remind them of expected behaviors:stay seated and buckled in, quiet voice, line up orderly , enter and exit the bus orderly use appropriate language hands and feet to self be polite to others and the bus driver. Transportation is a privilege.  If a student is not following bus expectations they may lose 1-5 days of transportation privileges.  If a student receives 5 bus referrals they will lose transportation privileges for the remainder of the school year.  We highly encourage you to be at the bus stop in the morning and afternoon.   Thank you for your help and support with this matter.

Helments: Please note if your child is coming to school in a bike, scooter and or skateboard it is the sole responsibility of the child.  They must be locked up in the bicycle/scooter rack.  Also, the California law  requires students to wear a helmet.  This information is also located in the Four Creeks Parent and Student Handbook which was passed out to all our students at the beginning of the school year.  You may also access the information through our Four Creeks website. If they come to school without a helmet, we will ask that you pick up their mode of transportation in the office.  Protect your child with the proper safety equipment.  Thank you for your support with this matter.
