VUSD Board Adopts New Trustee Area Boundaries (Map C)
On January 25, 2022, the Visalia Unified School District Board of Trustees unanimously voted to adopt Resolution No. 21-22-19. The resolution adopts trustee area boundary Map C and affirms the election sequencing set forth on Map C.
VUSD hired a professional demographer to draft revised trustee area boundaries, and three maps were drawn for consideration by the public and the trustees. Additionally, two more maps were submitted by members of the public.
When reviewing the five maps, the Board considered the following factors to re-balance the population for each trustee area: topography, geography, cohesiveness, contiguity, integrity, compactness of territory, and community of interests of the division. Map C offered the lowest population variance at 0.56% between the largest and smallest trustee areas.
Trustee areas must be relatively equal in total population. Following the new Census counts, the trustee area boundaries needed to be adjusted to re-balance trustee area populations. The new trustee areas will be in effect for the November 2022 elections.
Below is the trustee area boundary Map C and deviation tables by trustee area.
