To effectively implement our foundations, Visalia Unified has developed a plan that is intentional about results to ensure we are moving forward in an effective matter.
While many great things happen at VUSD, this plan will align all of those actions under themes, focus areas, and initiatives. Doing so also ensures that we are being good stewards with our funding and only propelling forward programs that help live out our mission and vision.
What is a Strategic Plan?
Strategic planning is the process of setting goals, deciding on actions to achieve those goals, and mobilizing the resources needed to take those actions. A strategic plan describes how goals will be achieved using available resources.
Many strategic planning tools and paradigms have been adapted to focus on community engagement and consensus. Effective strategic planning requires community support at the school district level, both functionally and legislatively. School districts of all sizes use strategic planning to improve student outcomes and respond to changing demographics while staying within the given funding box.
How did we develop our Strategic Plan?
Our Board of Education began the process of seeking feedback from the community. First, to inform the process of finding a new Superintendent then to help shape our work moving forward. With a new Superintendent, we began a series of community outreach sessions including online surveys with more than 27,000 results submitted by the community! These results created the outline of what was to become the Strategic Plan to move us forward.
How will we measure our progress?
Visalia Unified Strategic Plan will live as a public document right here on our "Visalia Unified Forward 2030" webpage, and bi-annually reported to the board regarding progress towards the various actions. In addition, our Student Outcome reports will focus on each of the metrics established by the Board as we work towards meeting and exceeding these goals.
